Doug Munro's "Loop-Mania!" showcases this master guitarist's prowess melded with an uncanny ability to make loop technology serve his muse. Never one to look back, Munro has constantly strived to evolve both as a musician and a human being, experiencing the world around him and presenting these experiences as continually changing musical landscapes. Whether playing soul jazz interpretations of songs from pop star Beck Hanson with organist Dr. Lonnie Smith on the celebrated “Boogaloo To Beck” CD or making the crazy “A Very Gypsy Jazz Christmas” CD with Ken Peplowski and Cyrille Aimee, Doug has always gone for the feel, the soul, the essence of the music. Here, on his follow-up to the critically acclaimed “Alone But Not Alone” CD, Munro is again moving into new musical territory with a multi media presentation of six new compositions. There are over two hours of HD videos containing the actual live performances of each song plus a “Nuts and Bolts” section that takes you behind the scenes to see how each song was crafted. The DVD also functions as a CD with downloadable MP3’s of each song that you can put in your portable music player. As a long time musician/educator Doug has also included downloadable PDF files of each song in standard notation and TAB. This is a solo guitar recording unlike anything you’ve heard or seen. It’s hard to believe that what you are hearing/seeing is done live with no overdubs. Doug intuitively utilizes loop technology as an additional writing and improvisational tool to further express himself.
