Happy Together

Tony Leung (Hero, Red Cliff) and Leslie Cheung (Knock Off) play a pair of lovers living out the waning days of their relationship as expatriates in Buenos Aires. Lusty tango bars, the salsa music of the La Boca sidewalks, and a hypnotic visit to the nearby Iguazu Falls give further dimension to the tensions growing between the two lovers. Fallen Angels

Thinking it's dangerous and improper to become involved with a colleague he sets out to find a surrogate for his affections. Chungking Express

Two stories of heartbroken police officers trying to move on from ex-lovers. First story has Cop 223 (Takeshi Kaneshiro) and his intertwined fate with a mysterious woman in a blonde wig. Second story with Cop 663 (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) has his attention roused by a food stand employee Faye (Faye Wong). Anything goes in Wong's gloriously shot and utterly unexpected charmer, which cemented the sex appeal of its gorgeous stars and forever turned canned pineapple and the Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreamin'" into tokens of romantic longing.

Days Of Being Wild

Wong Kar-Wai's follow up to 'As Tears Go By' (1988) marked a turning point in Eastern cinema, straddling both 'art house' and action features. He has affairs with two beautiful women and hangs out with his friends, before leaving for the Philippines in search of his mother. Note: filed under "World of Wong Kar Wai" in Drama.

Mary Magdalene

She is one of the most transformative yet misunderstood women in history, alternately vilified as a sinner and canonized as a saint. For the first time, the incredible story of Mary Magdalene is told through her own eyes. In the first century A.D., the free-spirited Mary (Rooney Mara) flees the marriage her family has arranged for her, finding refuge and a sense of purpose in a radical new movement led by the charismatic, rabble-rousing preacher Jesus (Joaquin Phoenix).

Ophelia

One of the world's greatest dramas is turned on its head through a bold, new perspective in Ophelia. Set in medieval Denmark and spoken in a modern tongue with a poetic twist, it recalibrates the classic Shakespearean tragedy of Hamlet so that its unspoken, complex heroine may share her own story. As a rebellious and motherless child, Ophelia (Daisy Ridley, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) is taken into Elsinore Castle by Queen Gertrude (Naomi Watts, Mulholland Drive) as one of her most trusted ladies-in-waiting.
