All About Eve

Backstage story revolving around aspiring actress Eve Harrington. Tattered and forlorn, Eve shows up in the dressing room of Broadway mega-star Margo Channing, telling a melancholy life story to Margo and her friends. Margo takes Eve under her wing, and it appears that Eve is a conniver that uses Margo.

The King And I

Winner of 5 Academy Awards, Rodgers & Hammerstein's real classic tells the true story of Anna Leonowens (Deborah Kerr), an English widow who travels to Siam in 1862 to serve as governess to the King's (Yul Brynner) children. She soon finds herself at odds with the stubborn monarch, but after getting to know each other, Anna and the King ultimately develop an extraordinary friendship that surprises them both.

Sayonara

Based on a novel by James Michener, Sayonara earned a fistful of OscarÆ nominations (including Best Picture, Director, and Actor) in 1957 and wound up winning statuettes for supporting actors Red Buttons and Miyoshi Umeki. Marlon Brando plays a Korean War fighter pilot, the son of a general, reassigned to Japan, where fraternization with local women is taboo. After breaking off his engagement to another general's daughter, he finds himself falling for a Japanese entertainer (Miiko Taka), then struggling with his own bias.
