It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was the first movie to be presented in the single lens Cinerama format and originally ran over three hours. This 16x9 enhanced DVD of the general release 161 minute version is from 35mm interpositive film elements newly transferred from the 65mm Ultra Panavison originals. The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is derived from the film's magnetic discrete seven channel masters, with directional dialogue as well as wrap around surround effects, a spectacular sound mix even by today's standards. Deleted scenes and outtakes from the longer Road Show version are included in the supplemental material in addition to the documentary, "Something A Little Less Serious", featuring interviews with Producer/Director Stanley Kramer and many surviving cast members.
