Animal Instinct was Gary Hoey`s first instrumental guitar release in the United States, and displays his huge talent and near-legendary agility as a guitarist.This album offers a number of rock stylings, from the hard-rock opening track "Mass Hysteria" to the soaring blues of "Texas Son" to the subtle shadings of "Bert`s Lounge" to the blissfully sad "Fade to Blue" to the Satriani-influenced cruising tune, "Drive". Animal Instinct, which features Tony Franklin on bass and Frankie Banali on drums, contains Hoey`s take on "Hocus Pocus", among the other outstanding tracks and Hoey originals.
