Commonly known as the Black Album, it was such a landmark, the band released a movie documenting the making of the individual tracks. Created with Bon Jovi producer Bob Rock and led off by the distinctive "Enter Sandman", "Metallica" was one of the best selling heavy metal albums of all time. The album marked a change in the band's sound from the thrash metal style of the previous four albums to slower tempos, crackling percussion, and even heavier grooves.
